Sale: Minerva to Mont Smith – 1908
Note: Mont Smith was married to June McCoy and they had a daughter Myrtle May Smith who married Albert Henry Moore. Myrtle and Albert had a son Billy Gene Moore who married Essie Jane Preece. Mont Smith was Billy Gene Moore’s Grandfather and Essie Jane Preece was Alexander Boone Preece’s 3rd great grandfather. Her line runs through William B. Preece.

This Deed of conveyance made and entered into this 26th day of March 1908 between Minerva Priest of Floyd County Kentucky party of the first part and Mont Smith of Pike County, Ky. party of the second part. Witnesseth: that said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of ($200.00) Two hundred dollars in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged does hereby sell and convey to the party of the second part her heirs and assigns the following described property to-wit: A certain tact of land lying and being in Floyd County Kentucky and on the water of Brushy Creek. Beginning on gum tree and birch standing on the bank of the Wolfe branch. Thence up said branch with the Pernina James Survey 110 poles to the line of the John Priest survey. Thence up the hill with said Priest line to 2 chestnut oaks on top of the ridge thence running south west with the dividing ridge between Wolfe Branch and Cow Fork to the top of a high know thence from the ridge with its meanders to a corner of the John Priest survey where Milton Morrison * George Morrison lines meet on the Grave Yard Point S 74West with the John Priest line to the beginning. This being the same land conveyed to Minerva E. Priest by John Priest heirs said deed bearing date Nov. 4th 1898 recorded in Deed Book No. W Page No., 83 Floyd County Records. The intention of this deed is to convey to Mont Smith about one half of my entire interest in the land deed me by the said John Priest heirs. To have and to hold the same together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the party of the second part and his heirs and assigns forever, and said part of the first part hereby covenants with the said party of the second part that they will warrant the title to the property hereby conveyed unto the said part of the second part and his heirs and assigns forever. In testimony whereof, the part of the first part hath hereunto subscribed her name the day and year aforesaid.
